Posttraumatic orientation to bodily signals: The engraving of trauma in bodily perceptions

چکیده
Introduction Theoretical perspectives emphasize that trauma and complex/posttraumatic stress disorder (C/PTSD) may interrupt with the perception of normal day-to-day bodily sensations, such as hunger, temperature pain. Yet, a coherent conceptual synthesis processes is still lacking. Objectives This presentation portrayes two studies provide empirical grounding for conceptualization ‘Posttraumatic Orientation to Bodily Signals’ (posttraumatic-OBS); an umbrella term reflecting tendency interpret signals catastrophic frightful following trauma. Methods Two assessing exposure trauma, C/PTSD, OBD (Pain catastrophizing scale, PCS; body vigilance BVS; Anxiety sensitivity index-physical), were conducted test hypothesized association between posttraumatic-OBD, explained by C/PTSD. Results Study 1 included 59 ex-prisoners war 44 controls along three time-points, revealing was associated more OBS (t = 2.73, p .008; Cohen’s d .57), which mediated longitudinal hyperarousal PTSD symptoms (indirect effect .04 [.009, .11]). Additionally, long-term chronic trajectory implicated in (F (2102)=6.91, .046). 2 194 dyads mothers their young adult daughter. Dyadic path analyses demonstrated through mediation CPTSD among effects 0.13–0.28; > 0.021) daughters 0.21–0.11; 0.032). Mothers’ daughters’ (effects 0.19-0.27; < 0.016). Daughters’ serially mothers’ OBD, 0.064; 0.023). The findings demonstrate often these be intergenerationally transmitted. Conclusions lay foundation posttraumatic-OBD. implications unified encapsulation posttraumatic-OBD subjective sensations future research practice will presented. Disclosure Interest None Declared

The neural subjective frame: from bodily signals to perceptual consciousness.
The report 'I saw the stimulus' operationally defines visual consciousness, but where does the 'I' come from? To account for the subjective dimension of perceptual experience, we introduce the concept of the neural subjective frame. The neural subjective frame would be based on the constantly updated neural maps of the internal state of the body and constitute a neural referential from which fi...
متن کاملBodily immunity to error *
Self-ascription of a property is said to be immune to error through misidentification relative to the first-person if and only if one cannot be mistaken about the person who instantiates the property when one has gained information about the property in the appropriate way (although one can be mistaken about the property one ascribes to oneself) (Evans, 1982). For instance, if I think that I am...
متن کاملReduced perception of bodily signals in anorexia nervosa.
OBJECTIVE Interoceptive awareness is known to be impaired in eating disorders. To date, it has remained unclear whether this variable is related to the construct of interoceptive sensitivity. Interoceptive sensitivity is considered to be an essential variable in emotional processes. The objective of the study was to elucidate this potential relationship and to clarify whether general interocept...
متن کاملBodily ownership and self-location: components of bodily self-consciousness.
Recent research on bodily self-consciousness has assumed that it consists of three distinct components: the experience of owning a body (body ownership); the experience of being a body with a given location within the environment (self-location); and the experience of taking a first-person, body-centered, perspective on that environment (perspective). Here we review recent neuroimaging studies ...
